The    Nasa Memory Foam Mattress    is a myth, there is not and never was any space bed technology, what bed manufacturers are using is a by product of a material, a form of visco elastic foam, first developed in the 70s in conjunction with the Space Program to help astronauts absorb enormous G-forces at lift off and re-entry, it was developed for seats not for sleeping on.

The air or springs react by pushing back against you,and the skin and blood vessels are caught in the middle, being squeezed between the force of your weight and the upwards force of the mattress.
